iOS: It’s 2018 and you’re still writing “1234” in all your password fields, huh? Thanks to Apple, you now have no excuse for sharing the same password with the rest of America. The company’s added a new section to its app store called “Try it For Free,” which lets you kick the tires on some apps before you shell out some cash. The first one you should try? 1Password.
The Try It For Free section in the iOS App Store (located in the Apps tab) highlights subscription-based apps offering free trials to prospective customers. While it only features four apps at the moment, well-received password management app 1Password is on the list, making this the perfect time to learn about password management.
Visit the app, select the Free Trial option (recurring either monthly or yearly), and sign up. You can manage that subscription from your Apple ID, and delete later (if you choose) by following these steps.
Doubling down on your security is an important resolution to make in 2018, considering how compromised your online identity already is thanks to 2017’s string of credit card breaches, username and password dumps, and revelations that your unique password is, in fact, not so unique.
