Forget Nougat; Android 8.0 Is Coming!

By  |

For the most of 2016 and early 2017, Android users have been obsessively awaiting Nougat’s arrival to their respective devices.

Android 7.0 Nougat promised a bunch of impressive enhancements and features but it looks like Android 8.0 is set to take your Android experience further.

Venture Beat reports that Google will be taking Android to a whole new level with improvements to the keyboard app by understanding the context of your conversations by a feature called Copy Less.

For example, if you are chatting with a friend about a famous venue and want to tell them the location, all you have to do is to start typing “It’s at” and Google will kick in with an autocomplete suggestion of the location.

On top of that, Android O will also be capable of recognizing an address and will automatically produce a link where you can tap on to launch app such as Google Maps.

Other reports state that the Android 8.0 may also include gesture shortcuts, similar to Huawei’s Knuckle Gesture on EMUI. Take for example, if you trace out the letter ‘C’, the camera app will automatically pop up.

These are great features that surpass all that Nougat offers but it’s best to take these with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed by Google.

That said, it won’t be long before we know the full extent of the latest update as Google I/O will be taking place on May 17 at the Shoreline Amphitheater.
